How the draft works

Everyone who opts in goes into one pool. When the draft runs, it picks the final guest list.

• Admins are confirmed automatically.
• The remaining guest list is drafted at random.
• When there are more guests than slots, karma plays a small role in the draft.
• Anyone not picked goes on the waitlist. The waitlist has no order; if a slot opens, the replacement is drafted at random rather than first-come-first-served.

Teaming up

Some editions allow for teaming up; the sign-up form tells you when one does. Those editions run small — a 4-slot game can feel full the moment two hosts take their slots. Teaming up is how the other two slots stop being wasted on one person each.

• Opt in as "open to teaming up" instead of solo, and the draft randomly pairs you with another entrant who did the same — one pair takes one slot, so two open slots can hold four people. You can always choose a different partner on game day.
• Teaming improves your own odds: a pair is a single entry in the draft, same as a solo entrant, but the slot it lands holds two.
• If your teammate drops out, you keep your slot. A team-willing waitlister may be drafted in to join you; if none turns up, you may end up playing solo.
